USO DOS ÓLEOS ESSENCIAIS EM ONICOMICOSE: REVISÃO INTEGRATIVA

RESUMEN
Objetivo: Identificar en la literatura cómo se utilizan los aceites esenciales en el tratamiento de la onicomicosis. Métodos: Revisión integrativa, con búsquedas realizadas en las bases de datos MEDLINE / PubMed Web of Science, Cochrane, SCOPUS y BVS, donde se analizaron 13 estudios. Resultados: El uso de aceites esenciales de Melaleuca alternifolia, Lavandula angustifolia, Eucalyptus citriodora y Foeniculum vulgare es eficaz y tiene beneficios en el tratamiento de la onicomicosis ya que inhiben el crecimiento micelial del hongo de las uñas. Por tanto, los profesionales sanitarios implicados en la atención de los pacientes con onicomicosis deben mantenerse al día sobre dichas alternativas de tratamiento y, en consecuencia, sobre la mejora de la atención que se les brinda a estos pacientes. Conclusión: Se ha demostrado que la eficacia antifúngica de una variedad de aceites muestra pocos efectos adversos, así como diferentes formas de presentación y posibles asociaciones. Sin embargo, el nivel de evidencia presentado fue bajo, lo que justifica la necesidad de estudios más robustos sobre el tema.
